SUNY Nassau Community College is pleased to announce that WHPC 90.3 FM, the voice of SUNY Nassau, has been named the nation’s top community college radio station by the Intercollegiate Broadcast System. It’s the second year in a row that the college radio station has won top honors and the third win in the past four years.
“I’m so proud of our SUNY Nassau students, staff, and community members who volunteer their time every week,” said Shawn Novatt, Director of WHPC 90.3 FM. “Without their hard work and dedication, this honor would not be possible. Being named the Best Community College Radio Station by the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System proves that we remain true to WHPC’s mission to provide professional broadcasting training to qualified SUNY Nassau students. I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish in 2022 and beyond.
The Nassau Community College Radio Station has approximately 100 volunteers, most of whom are SUNY Nassau students. Its programming includes sports, entertainment and news, including a variety of music shows featuring pop, rock, polka and Italian music. The station can be heard at 90.3 FM and worldwide through the iHeartRadio, Audacy, TuneIn and “WHPC” apps, as well as Amazon Alexa and Google Home devices. It is the only college radio station in Nassau and Suffolk to broadcast in high definition.
