After outsourcing radio broadcast efforts, Fresno State Athletics is creating its own network for its fans.

Fresno State Athletics will broadcast on iHeartMedia through the new Bulldogs Sports Network starting July 1.

Fresno’s One Putt Broadcasting previously operated radio broadcast rights for Fresno State Athletics.

Zachary Fraser, managing director of Bulldog Sports Properties, described the partnership as an investment on behalf of Bulldog Sports Properties that the department says will generate long-term revenue. The exact cost was not disclosed.

Previously, Fresno State Athletics outsourced its broadcast, unbundling the revenue stream and segmenting fan reach, according to a new release. Now under Bulldogs Sports Network, broadcast and media efforts will remain in-house. Revenue will be generated directly for Fresno State Athletics.

“This exciting new partnership between iHeartMedia and Fresno State Athletics is a huge win for Bulldog fans across the Valley,” said Steve Darnell, region president of iHeartMedia. “In addition to delivering live gaming action, our iHeartMedia influencers will create exciting audio, digital, social and podcast content to enhance the Bulldog Sports Network across all of our Central California iHeartMedia station brands.”

Live games will be broadcast on the radio for football, men’s and women’s basketball, softball and baseball. The Bulldog Sports Network will also host coaches and highlights throughout the year which will be broadcast live on select channels. It will also be available on a podcast channel through the iHeartRadio and Fresno State Bulldogs apps.

Eventually, the amount of content creation and the volume of podcasts and media delivery could create jobs, but not immediately, Fraser said.

Fans can tune their radios anywhere from Sacramento to Bakersfield, listen digitally statewide with the iHeartRadio mobile app, or listen from around the world through the Fresno State Bulldogs app.

“We are thrilled to partner with iHeartMedia to bring the Bulldog Sports Network to our passionate Red Wave fan base throughout the Valley and far beyond,” said Fresno State Athletics Director, Terry Tumey. “iHeartMedia is well regarded as a world-renowned media company that will further enhance our ability to advance the Fresno State brand, engage our longtime fans, and reach new audiences.”

New podcasts and live content featuring Fresno State coaches, student athletes and contributors will be constantly developed and aired on popular radio stations like B95, 102.7 The Wolf, 203.7 The Beat.

iHeartRadio’s partnership with Fresno State will be visible with in-stadium support and tailgate exposure.

It will also make advertising for partner companies more transparent, and because advertising has always been segmented, Fraser expects to save advertising partners money.

“We look forward to bringing the passion of Fresno State to more fans in other markets and expanding opportunities for our sponsors, including exposure within the iHeartMedia family,” Fraser said. “I look forward to working with iHeartMedia and know its powerful digital connections will strengthen the connection with the existing fanbase, while reaching a new generation of fans ready to be part of the Red Wave.”
