A The Washington, DC-area radio station has been promoting Chinese Communist Party propaganda to listeners for years after receiving $4.4 million to do so, according to a report.
The Potomac Media Group has received millions from China’s International Communications Planning Bureau over the past two years and aired Chinese content on Potomac Media’s WCRW, its AM station, according to a series of documents.
The station aired a series of talk shows portraying China positively, Potomac Media Group admitted in documents filed with the Justice Department.

The group worked directly with a cult of the Communist Party’s Propaganda Department, which could have scrutinized all broadcasts and verified programming.
Potomac Media Group was also required to report its audience, comments and “evaluation of international organizations” to the Chinese Planning Bureau, according to filings.
China has a history of influencing the media and paid the Potomac Media Group $4.4 million from July 2019 to August 2021.

WCRW has been broadcasting Chinese content since 1992, but it had not previously been registered as China’s foreign agent with the DOJ.
